13-Year-Old Digger Enthusiast Takes On Diggerland Veteran in Epic Head-to-Head Challenge

Construction machinery meets competitive spirit as a remarkable 13-year-old trained digger operator prepares to go head-to-head with a long-standing Diggerland professional in what promises to be an unforgettable showdown. Visitors to Diggerland Kent will witness a truly unique contest as the youngest qualified CPCS Backhoe operator in the UK, Finlay Gallagher, takes on one of Diggerland Kent’s most experienced operators in a thrilling digger challenge.

Taking place on Saturday 11th April at 2pm, the exciting face-off will see Finlay compete against Dave Smith, Park Manager at Diggerland Kent, in a special head-to-head challenge on the park’s popular ‘Skittles’ attraction.

The attraction involves using a mini digger fitted with a custom-made attachment to knock down a set of skittles – a task that requires impressive precision, control and a steady hand. While it may sound simple, mastering the challenge demands real skill behind the controls, especially going head-to-head in a challenge!

For 13-year-old Finlay Gallagher, operating heavy machinery is already second nature. Despite his young age, Finlay has earned recognition as the youngest CPCS operator in the UK, an extraordinary achievement that has captured attention across the construction industry.

However, standing in his way is a formidable opponent. Dave Smith, Diggerland Kent’s Park Manager, has been operating construction machinery for nearly 20 years. The upcoming showdown will see youth take on experience in what is expected to be a closely fought and entertaining competition.

Dave Smith, Park Manager said:
“I’ve been operating machinery for nearly 20 years, so I’d like to think I’ve got a bit of experience on my side. That said, Finlay is clearly very talented and it’s fantastic to see someone so young with such a passion for operating machinery. I’m confident I’ll come out on top, but it’s going to be a brilliant challenge and I’m really looking forward to meeting him and seeing what he can do.”

Finlay Gallagher is equally excited about the upcoming challenge and the opportunity to put his skills to the test at the popular construction-themed adventure park. He said:

“I’m really looking forward to visiting Diggerland and taking on Dave in the skittles challenge,” said Finlay. “I love operating diggers and practising my skills, so competing against someone with so much experience is going to be really exciting. Hopefully I can knock down more pins than Dave!”

The special event will take place at 2pm on Saturday 11th April, and visitors to the park will be able to watch the action unfold as part of their normal admission. With excitement already building around the one-day event, guests are strongly encouraged to pre-book their tickets online in advance to guarantee entry and avoid disappointment.

Alongside the head-to-head spectacle, guests will also be able to enjoy a full day out at Diggerland Kent, which features over 20 unique rides and drives, all based around real construction machinery. From operating diggers and driving dumpers to enjoying a variety of family-friendly attractions, there is plenty to keep visitors entertained throughout the day.

For families also planning a visit during the Easter holidays, Diggerland will be open every day from 28th March to 19th April, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy the attractions during half term. Book online: https://www.diggerland.com
