Time For Tea (and Cake!) at Great Comp Gardens

We are delighted to announce that The Old Dairy Tearoom will reopen from tomorrow (Saturday 4th July) in line with the government’s recommendations for cafes and restaurants.

For those of you who don’t know already, The Old Dairy Tearoom underwent a very special make-over during the winter months and a new stove was fitted, the old dairy was decorated and a very funky coffee machine was installed.¬† Our new tearoom manager Joe Lane, who originally¬†trained at the Cricketers Inn in Meopham, is keen to serve his vibrant menu to visitors in the coming weeks.

Curator William Dyson said “It’s great to be able to reopen the tearooms after lockdown.¬† I’m so pleased that visitors will get a chance to try the new menu and Joe’s fantastic cakes.”

The team at Great Comp have worked hard since opening at the beginning of June to ensure that the entrance is now one-way, payments are taken only by card, the walkways are well signposted, and that visitors feel safe in the garden and able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

William says: “it’s been a challenging few months while we were closed, but now that we are open and the Tearooms are able to serve again, we are confident that the garden can accommodate visitors safely and that spaced seating and one way pathways mean that everyone can find a tranquil space in which to relax.”

Dyson’s Nursery is open onsite selling William’s world famous salvias and the garden now has extended opening hours from 10am-5pm.

Thank you for supporting us during this difficult time.
