Help Tidings the Elf save Christmas from the dark magic forces
- Panto-style interactive storytelling in the Baron’s Hall
- Christmas shopping at the Penshurst Place Estate
A magical new Christmas ‘panto-style’ story telling experience awaits youngsters at Penshurst Place this December, providing an opportunity to step into the majestic Baron’s Hall for an interactive and engaging session of festive fun with Tidings the elf and the big man himself.
The north pole is the setting for this year’s festive story in which families will see Tidings the Elf on a mission to save Christmas! With the help of the audience, and some special festive characters, Tidings needs to solve some very tricky magic riddles to unlock the answer of how to protect Christmas before time runs out. He needs all the help he can to save the big day and to make sure the dreams of children all round the world will come true. Santa is relying on him and his team of Penshurst Place helpers!
After each show lasting 25 minutes, little visitors will have a chance to meet with Father Christmas to whisper what is on their Santa list and to have a photo taken with him.
With five sessions daily at 10.30am, 11.45am, 1pm, 2.45pm and 4pm, the storytelling will take place at weekends from 4th December to 19th December and on 20th, 21st and 22nd December.
These popular festive story telling sessions sell-out quickly so early pre-booking is suggested. Tickets are priced at £6.00 per person (a separate ticket is required for each adult and for each child, except babe-in-arms) – to book visit https://events.liveit.io/penshurst-place-gardens/penshurst-place-presents-tidings-the-elf-in-christ/.
In the interest of keeping guests safe, the capacity of each show has been reduced and crafts and activities usually offered, such as face-painting, will not be available this year to ensure Covid safety. The ticket pricing has been reduced accordingly to reflect the simplified entertainment programme.
The Penshurst Place Christmas Gift Shop will be open to the public throughout December (other than Christmas Day) and stocked with artisan local produce, speciality gifts and festive favourites such as handmade wreaths made using foliage from the estate and mistletoe harvested from the gardens. A selection of locally-grown Christmas trees and seasonal hampers will also be available, with the option to create your own bespoke hamper.
Meanwhile, the Porcupine Pantry Café will be serving festive fare, warm drinks and Christmas sweet treats and Forge Stores, in Penshurst Village, will have all the pantry goodies needed for the festive season, including fresh turkeys that can be pre-ordered now.
