The Battle of Britain Memorial

This clifftop tribute to the heroes of the Battle of Britain offers an interactive, high-tech visitor experience alongside calm reflection on the conflict that changed the course of the Second World War.

The site, floodlit from dusk, has at its heart the evocative National Memorial to the Few, while outside attractions include the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial wall, a replica Spitfire and Hurricane and a stainless steel Stuka sculpture.

Inside, the interactive Scramble Experience is popular with visitors of all ages and the well-stocked shop and first-floor cafe with views of France contribute to a great day out.

Opening Times

The Memorial site itself is open 365 days a year to those on foot (access is via the side gate), with the car park, shop, cafe and Scramble Experience open as per the times shown below. 1 Apr to 31 Oct, 10am – 5pm 1 Nov to 31 March, 10am – 4pm Please note that the site is closed on Mondays from 1st Nov to the end of Feb.

Entry to The Wing (Visitor Centre) carries an admission charge, which includes access to The Scramble Experience. Pricing details are shown below. Access to the Memorial grounds, shop and the Cockpit Café remains free for all visitors. Please note that parking charges apply (£2 for up to two hours or £6 for all day).

Accessibility

The site is fully accessible, with step free-access across the whole site, including The Wing, which has a lift to the first floor cafe.

There are three clearly marked Blue Badge parking spaces approximately 10m from the entrance to The Wing. There is hardstanding for a small number of motorcycles.

There is a unisex, fully accessible toilet meeting current guidelines.
