30th November at The Historic Dockyard Chatham
Bring a piece of this history into your home this Christmas.
Step into the festive spirit with our Wreath Making Workshop this November.
As the last remaining original naval ropeyard in operation, Master Ropemakers maintains a process of ropemaking that dates back more than 400 years. The base of your unique Christmas Wreath will be formed from rope made by our expert craftsman, using the same techniques used for producing the finest ropes for the Royal Navy Ships including, HMS Victory.
The workshop will start with a welcome drink of mulled wine or cider before Alex Rowling, General Manager of Master Ropemakers, guides you through the techniques for creating a traditional door wreath. You’ll then take your place at the craft tables and let loose to create your own wreath for your home. Decorations will be provided, from foliage to ribbons to festive materials provided by the Ropery Gift Shop.
The workshop takes place at Commissioners House and is £40 per person, which includes all materials for the wreath, welcome drink and refreshments.
