Forestry Commission Celebrates 100 Years of Forestry in 2019

The centenary is a once in a lifetime opportunity to shine a spotlight on forests, and the immense benefits they bring to people, the economy and the environment. We’ve designed a programme of events and activities to amplify our work, celebrate the nation’s forests and introduce new and more diverse audiences to our organisation. As we celebrate our centenary, we will inspire a deeper appreciation of our forests, while nurturing and protecting them for future generations.

The centenary year will include the largest ever survey of forest wildlife, projects to boost health and wellbeing, new artistic works and a focus on education. It will see existing forests expanded, and commemorative avenues planted to celebrate 100 years of forestry. Bedgebury National Pinetum will host an outdoor art exhibition by the Bedgebury Pinetum Florilegium Society from April 2019. New and unique artworks created specially by the Society will showcase the beauty and diversity of the Pinetum’s tree collection.
