A variety of animals at Howletts Wild Animal Park, near Canterbury have been getting into the spirit of Halloween by enjoying some tricky pumpkin treats.
Red river hogs got to grips with apple and pumpkin bobbing, whilst European bison used their horns to tackle carved pumpkins and spooky enrichment toys – including a floating ghost.
Meanwhile, the only giant anteaters in Kent used their tongues and impressive talons to get stuck into a large carved pumpkin, complete with worm treats inside.
Adrian Harland, Animal Director explained: ‘As October half term and Halloween are just around the corner, we decided to offer a variety of our animals some themed treats as part of our important enrichment programme, which is designed to encourage mental, physical and sensory perception.’
The tricks and treats are set to continue throughout October half term as Howletts has announced the return of their popular Kids Go Free Offer. Plus, from Saturday 20th to Sunday 28th October, visitors will be able to take part in daily activities including free animal talks.
