Autumn Colour at Hever Castle

Hever Castle & Gardens will soon be transformed into a dazzling autumnal landscape as its much-loved Autumn Colour celebration returns.

Between Monday 29 September and Friday 31 October, visitors can immerse themselves in the breathtaking beauty of nature – from the fiery red of the Boston Ivy climbing the castle walls to the golden canopy of trees lining Lake Walk.

As part of the seasonal showcase, the Hever estate will also host a series of hands-on workshops covering fascinating topics such as fungi, herbs, dried flower bouquets, fabric dye creation, and spring bulb planting. All workshops are included with garden entry.

“Autumn Colour at Hever Castle is truly the season that keeps on giving,” says Head Gardener Neil Miller. “The Boston Ivy blazes red, the estate’s trees begin to turn, and the sight of ruby-red rose hips from our 5,000 rose bushes is something to behold. This is the perfect chance to pull on your walking boots, enjoy the crunch of leaves underfoot and see our grounds at their spectacular best.”

A highlight of the event is the self-guided Autumn Trail, winding through the historic grounds of Anne Boleyn’s childhood home. Curated by Hever’s expert gardening team, the trail showcases rare and unusual trees as they transform into brilliant shades of gold, orange and crimson.

Adding to the excitement, RHS Chelsea Flower Show multi-gold medal winners, the Caley Brothers, will run their first-ever workshop at Hever Castle & Gardens. “We are really excited this year to host workshops with the Caley Brothers – I’ve been wanting to explore fungi for years, and they’re the best in the business,” Neil Miller added.

Visitors can also get hands-on with a spring bulb planting workshop at the end of October – the perfect opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Hever’s beautiful grounds.
