Discover Mote Park: Maidstone’s Vibrant Green Escape

Award-Winning Green Space

Mote Park stands as a massive green oasis in the heart of Maidstone, spanning over 450 acres. The vast space is one of the reason visitors enjoy this park,  one of the top three favourite Green Flag Parks in the UK. Moreover, its natural features, including grassland, woodland, winding rivers, and a stunning 30-acre lake, captivate everyone.

Rich History and Transformation

Originally a Roman villa depended on Mote Park as its main water source. Later, the owners transformed Mote Park House into a grand country estate and actively developed the surrounding park. In 1793, they demolished the original mansion and rebuilt it by 1800. During that period, they dammed the River Len to create a picturesque lake, added internal roads, erected walls, and constructed a charming boathouse.

Exciting Activities and Attractions

Visitors enjoy a large children’s play area that was rebuilt in 2019 near the main car park. Additionally, a smaller play area at the School Lane entrance provides extra fun for families. For thrill-seekers, Mote Park Outdoor Adventure offers high ropes, a climbing wall, mini golf, and Segways, which add a burst of adrenaline. Furthermore, the park features plenty of paths and trails for walking and cycling, and it challenges adventurous riders with an exciting BMX track complete with jumps and spins.

Dining Delights

The park café welcomes guests with a wide choice of food and drink.  Hot and cold drinks, delicious food, and refreshing ice cream for instance. All ensuring visitors enjoy a delightful break during their stay.

Seasonal Events

From early summer to autumn, the park hosts an array of events that energise the park. It supports charity walks and runs, major music and cultural festivals, which keep the park buzzing with activity throughout the season.
