In the 1560s Henry Sidney created the first walled design in the Gardens of Penshurst Place as a means to protect the 100s of fruit trees he was to grow there. Though the original walled design may have changed over the centuries, the concept and our history as a fruit-growing Garden remains. This Autumn join us for our first ever apple weekend and learn more about the over 130 apple trees in the Gardens, enjoy children’s crafts and games, apple pressing, tastings and more!
