Explore the Image of Anne Boleyn After Hours at Hever Castle

Step inside Hever Castle after hours for an exclusive evening of history, expert insight and dining.

Hever Castle is inviting guests to experience its acclaimed Capturing a Queen: The Image of Anne Boleyn exhibition in an entirely new way this autumn, with an exclusive evening of after-hours access, expert insight and dinner in the atmospheric Tudor Suite.

Taking place on Monday 19th October 2026, After Hours: The Image of Anne Boleyn offers a rare opportunity to explore the exhibition once the castle has closed to daytime visitors, meet members of the curatorial team and discover more about the fascinating story behind Anne Boleyn’s enduring image.

The evening begins at 6pm with a welcome drink, followed by an introduction to the exhibition in the castle’s Inner Hall from members of Hever Castle’s curatorial team, Alison Palmer, Kate McCaffrey and Dr Owen Emmerson. With their specialist knowledge and involvement in bringing Capturing a Queen: The Image of Anne Boleyn to life, they will share fascinating insights into the exhibition, its stories and the objects on display.

Guests will then have the exclusive opportunity to explore the exhibition after hours, with Alison, Kate and Owen on hand to answer any questions throughout the featured exhibition rooms of the Castle. This is a unique chance to meet the experts behind Capturing a Queen and hear the stories and research that shaped the exhibition.

Following the exhibition experience, the evening continues in the atmospheric Tudor Suite Dining Room, located within the Castle’s Edwardian Wing, which was built in Tudor style to complement the historic Castle. Here, guests will be seated at shared tables to enjoy a two-course dinner showcasing seasonal flavours. The menu includes roasted corn-fed chicken with Dauphinoise potato and morel mushroom and a decadent dark chocolate fondant with black cherry ice cream. A vegan menu is also available.

Dinner will be served from approximately 8.30pm, with the evening drawing to a close at 10pm.

With exclusive after-hours access, the opportunity to speak directly with the curatorial team and dinner served within the historic castle, this special evening offers a memorable way to experience Capturing a Queen beyond the usual daytime visit.

Dr Owen Emmerson, Assistant Curator at Hever Castle, said:

“It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to share Capturing a Queen with visitors after hours. This exclusive evening offers a chance to explore the exhibition in a more intimate setting, meet the curatorial team and discover some of the fascinating stories and research behind Anne Boleyn’s enduring image.”

Tickets are £95 per person, or £85 for annual members, plus a booking fee. Guests staying in Hever Castle’s luxury accommodation on the 19th October can also add this special evening experience to their stay and enjoy the exclusive members’ price.

Guests can also pre-order a hardback copy of Capturing a Queen: The Image of Anne Boleyn when purchasing their tickets online. Kate McCaffrey and Dr Owen Emmerson will be delighted to sign copies on the evening, providing the perfect opportunity to take home a signed keepsake from this special after-hours experience.
