Wolf experience

Summer 2025 marks a historic landmark for Wildwood and our partners in our bid to return red-billed choughs to South-East England. For the first time in more than two centuries, a youngster has successfully taken flight from a wild nest in Dover!

This exciting news comes in year three of a five-year reintroduction programme led by Wildwood Trust, Kent Wildlife Trust, and Paradise Park, in which choughs bred in captivity, including at Wildwood Kent, are being released annually in the Dover and White Cliffs area.

The project aims to introduce up to 50 birds to the South East and is part of a broader strategy to link chough populations across the whole of southern England, overseen by Natural England and other leading conservation bodies.

We’re chuffed to see Kent’s first wild-born chough in over 200 years
