A Year on Boki the Bear Celebrates Remarkable First Anniversary since Life-Saving Brain Surgery in Kent

One year ago today, Boki became the first brown bear in the world to undergo life-saving brain surgery after suffering from severe seizures caused by hydrocephalus. If it wasn’t for this surgery, we feared he wouldn’t survive the winter.

Today, thanks to teamwork, expert care, and the generosity of our supporters, Boki is thriving and completely off medication! He’s growing stronger every day, and preparing to enter torpor (a bear’s winter rest) once again.

From battling seizures to again climbing trees, swimming, and playing like the cheeky young bear he was always meant to be!

Boki’s recovery has been nothing short of extraordinary.

To mark this incredible one-year anniversary, we’re raffling tickets for one lucky family  get the opportunity to hand feed Boki! A unique opportunity to share in a moment of history and celebrate the spirit of a bear who has overcome so much.

Thank you to everyone who has stood by Boki and Wildwood throughout this journey. You’ve helped give this remarkable bear the chance to live the life he deserves.
